After plating a run in the first inning, Jacksonville busted the game open with two-run home runs off the bats of Alfredo Silverio (HR, 1) and Ryan Fisher (HR, 2) in the top of the third inning to give the Suns a 5-0 lead through two and a half innings of play.
The Suns made it a 7-0 lead after Danny Black ripped a two-run triple down the right field line in the top of the fifth inning. After Jacksonville added a run in the seventh, Ryan Fisher (HR, 3) became the first Suns hitter with a multi-homer game in 2014, after launching a Jarret Martin offering well beyond the right field wall in the top of the ninth inning to make it 9-2 in favor of Jacksonville. The Suns added two more runs before the top half of the ninth inning came to a close.
Chattanooga busted up the shutout with two outs in the seventh inning, when Casio Grider's RBI single scored O'Koyea Dickson. The Lookouts would tack on a run in the eighth inning and two more in the ninth to complete their scoring on Thursday.
Raydel Sanchez (L, 0-1) took the loss for Chattanooga after allowing four runs (all earned) on three hits in 2.1 innings of work.
Alfredo Silverio's third inning blast was his first home run since September 2, 2011 when he was a member of the Chattanooga Lookouts.
Every Suns position player who appeared in Thursday's contest was on base at least once, including Danny Black who had the first four-hit game for the Suns in 2014.
The Suns and Lookouts will be back at it Friday night for the finale of this five-game series with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET from AT&T Field. Jacksonville will toss out the righty Jose Urena (0-2, 10.80) in Friday's rubber match, and he'll be countered by Lookouts right-hander Garrett Gould (0-2, 9.82).
