Jacksonville, Fla. - Andy Jenkins' first homerun of 2009 combined with a two-run double from Chris de la Cruz rallied the Jacksonville Suns (32-35) past the Mobile BayBears (37-30) for a 3-2 victory in front of 8,830 Thursday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Suns reliever Chris Leroux (3-2) picked up the victory, dealing one relief inning. Jacksonville starter Willie Glen allowed two runs, one earned, over five innings without a decision. Scott Maine (2-1) picked up the loss for Mobile, charged with one run in one-third of an inning. Matt Peterson (14) picked up the save and now leads the Southern League alone in that category.

Mobile opened the scoring in the third inning, as Sean Coughlin singled home Mark Hallberg for a 1-0 score. On the play, Suns right fielder Mike Stanton misplayed the ground ball, allowing Yunesky Sanchez to score as well for a 2-0 BayBears lead.

The Suns did not have a baserunn er through the first four innings against Mobile starter Wes Roemer. Stanton doubled to start off the fifth, breaking up the perfect string of outs. Jacksonville got on the board in the seventh inning when Andy Jenkins led off with his first homerun of the season, cutting the Mobile lead to 2-1. Roemer left the game after a two-out walk, making way for reliever Scott Maine. After walking the first batter he faced, Maine gave up a double from Chris de la Cruz which scored both Kevin Randel and Bryan Peterson to give the Suns a 3-2 lead.

Jacksonville LH Graham Taylor will face Mobile RH Cody Evans in game three of the series Friday at 7:05 p.m. ET at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. Friday Family Fireworks follow the game, sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts. Tickets are available through the Suns box office at (904) 358-2846 or by visiting jaxsuns.com.
