Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Lookouts continued to swing their hot bats in a 6-2 finish at AT&T Field over the Mississippi Braves in Thursday night action. Mississippi took an early 1-0 lead by plating a run in the first. Matt Young led off with a single and quickly swiped second. After an Eric Campbell ground out, which advanced Young to third, Willie Cabrera hit a rocket single, glancing off of third baseman Josh Bell's glove, to plate Young. Chattanooga waited until the third to counter. Adam Godwin led off with a single and advanced to second on a Justin Sellers walk. Josh Bell followed with double to right, plating Godwin easily on the play. Sellers, however, was called out on a collision at the plate in which catcher J.C. Boscan held onto the ball. After a Mike Rose fly out to center, Eddy Perez blasted a two-run shot to give the Lookouts a 3-1 lead.

The M-Braves chipped into the Lookouts' lead in the fourth with another run on an RBI triple from Brandon Hicks. The Lookouts augmented their lead in the sixth with three more runs. Red-hot Russ Mitchell led off with a single and made his way home on subsequent singles from Tommy Giles and Jesus Castillo. Two outs were promptly recorded to pause the rally; however, Bell pressed the resume button on a hit by pitch to load the bases. Mike Rose followed with a ball hit to shortstop Brandon Hicks, which was ruled a single and a subsequent throwing error, resulting in Giles and Castillo crossing home plate. After the dust settled, the Lookouts held a 6-2 lead, which would remain until the conclusion of the contest. Jesus Castillo (3-5), who pitched four shutout innings in relief of Josh Lindblom, earned the win on the mound for the Lookouts. He surrendered four hits and two walks, while striking out three. Ryne Reynoso (3-4) took the loss for the Braves, yielding three runs on five hits and three walks in four innings. He struck out two in the losing effort. The Chattanooga Lookouts and Mississippi Braves will continue their five-game series at 7:15 P.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
