12-Hit Attack Provides Win on Thursday Night for Jaxx

JACKSON, TENN. (JUNE 18, 2009) - The Diamond Jaxx (26-41) use a 12 hit outburst on Thursday night to even the series with Montgomery (31-36) at one game each with a 7-2 victory. Mel Stocker, Marshall Hubbard, David Espinosa, Matt Mangini and Brent Johnson all picked up two-hit games in the win. Kyle Parker (4-3) provided six innings of work on the mound and the offense did the rest to snap the current three-game losing skid.

It was the Jaxx that struck first Thursday night. Mel Stocker, Gavin Dickey and Marshall Hubbard led the bottom of the first off with singles. Hubbard's single plated Mel Stocker for the Jaxx first run of the game. Yamid Haad grounded into a 5-4-3 double play but Gavin Dickey came across putting West Tenn on top 2-0.

Matt Fields led the top of the second off with a solo homer cutting the Jaxx lead to 2-1.

Yamid Haad doubled down the left field line opening the Diamond Jaxx fourth. Johan Limonta followed with a walk putting two runners on base. David Espinosa struck for one of his two hits on the night knocking a two-RBI triple scoring two and giving the Jaxx a 4-1 lead. Espinosa scored a double play ball hit into by Oswaldo Navarro. The Jaxx led 5-1 after four innings.

In the top of the fifth, the Biscuits got a second solo homer. This time it came from catcher, Matt Spring. The two solo homers were the only damage given up by Jaxx starter, Kyle Parker.

Espinosa scored the Jaxx sixth run of the game on a double play hit into by Brent Johnson in the sixth. Espinosa went 2-for-4 in the game with two RBI and two runs scored. Brent Johnson drove in Matt Mangini in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs providing a five run cushion going into the ninth.

Mumba Rivera gave the Jaxx two scoreless innings of relief a and Ricky Orta struck out two Biscuit hitter to retire the side in the top of the ninth. LHP Brandon Mann (3-3) lasted just four innings for the Biscuits in the start, allowing five runs on seven hits.

With the series tied at one game each, RHP Luis Munoz (2-2, 4.60) takes the mound for the Jaxx on Friday night. He will be opposed by fellow righty Heath Rollins (5-5, 3.93) for the Biscuits.
