JACKSONVILLE - The Miami Marlins announced a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's series opening contest with the Birmingham Barons at Bragan Field.

Infielder Alex McClure has been placed on the voluntary retired list. After being transferred to Jacksonville from Single-A Greensboro, the 24-year-old went 0-for-11 in seven games with the Suns, adding a walk. McClure, who was acquired by the Marlins organization via a trade on July 21 from the Kansas City Royals organization, combined for a .210 mark (60-286) with no homers and 19 RBI in 89 games between four separate teams in 2013.

In four professional seasons and 342 games, McClure recorded a career average of .214, including three homers and 89 RBI. The Tennessee native was selected by the Royals in the 11th round of the 2010 MLB draft out of Middle Tennessee State University.
