Hagerstown Suns News Release
Asheville, NC: The Hagerstown Suns dropped game one of their eight game road trip, falling to the Asheville Tourists 6-0. Simon Ferrer fired six scoreless innings for his 7th win.
The Suns, (14-31, 43-69) were shutout for only the 5th time this season as they didn't have an answer for Ferrer, a knuckleball pitcher. Ferrer tossed six innings, yielding only four hits, walking one and striking out seven. Casey Weathers and Zach Simons fired the next three innings, allowing no basehits out of the pen.
All the offense came from the Tourists; they scored one in the 2nd on a RBI double off the bat of Matt Repac and scored five more in the 5th highlighted by a two single by Daniel Mayora.
Erik Arnesen was saddled with the loss after tossing 4.1 innings, allowing all six runs. Coby Mavroulis, Yunior Novoa and Chris Lugo all pitched well out of the pen for Hagerstown.
On Thursday, the Suns and Tourists will play game two of their four game set. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05PM from McCormick Field. For information on upcoming Suns games, please give the Suns a call at 301-791-6266 or visit them on the web at www.hagerstownsuns.com
