Augusta, GA - The GreenJackets (50-20, 26-20) opened up an eight game on stand on Wednesday night with a 13-1 loss to the Lakewood BlueClaws (33-32, 23-21) in a rematch of the 2006 South Atlantic League Championship. Starter Ben Snyder recorded the loss and Augusta pitching allowed a season high 19 hits in the game.

The BlueClaws plated the only two runs they needed in the second inning for a 2-0 lead and were helped out by three errors in the frame. Gus Minor led off the inning reaching on a throwing error from Ben Snyder then Jay Miller followed reaching on a two base throwing error from Marcus Sanders.

Welinson Baez followed with a ground ball to short and Emmanuel Burriss came home with the throw to get Milner out at the plate. Catcher Elio Sarmiento then threw high at third to try to get Miller out for the third error of the inning and that allowed Miller to score the first run of the inning. C.J. Henry drove in the second run with an RBI single for a 2-0 lead.

Snyder (13-4) worked four innings and allowed five runs, three earned on seven hits in the loss. Snyder did not walk a batter and struck out three.

Lakewood added three more runs in the fourth inning on RBI base hits from Baez and Fidel Hernandez and an RBI ground out from Tuffy Gosewisch.

Augusta's one run came in the bottom of the fourth inning on a two-out RBI single from Matt Weston scoring Brett Pill from second base to trim the lead to 5-1. Pill reached second base on a two-out, two base error from Milner when the right-fielder dropped a fly ball on the warning track.

Paul Lussier relieved Snyder after four innings and recorded just two outs in the fifth inning allowing three runs on six hits for an 8-1 lead. The BlueClaws got RBI singles from Miller, Hernandez and Henry in the frame to put the game out of reach.

Craig Whitaker allowed five more runs in the ninth inning for a 13-1 Lakewood lead. Baez started the scoring with a one-out RBI double for a 9-1 lead. Then with two outs in the frame, Quinten Barry connected for an RBI single and Adrien Cardenas and Milner each drew bases loaded walks.

Augusta received 2.1 scoreless innings from Adam Ortiz allowing just one hit and Juan Trinidad pitched a perfect eighth inning.

Wayne Foltin recorded the final out in the ninth inning getting a ground ball out.

The GreenJackets and BlueClaws continue their series on Thursday night with Augusta sending right-hander Adam Cowart (12-5, 2.65) to the hill. Lakewood will counter with lefty Antonio Bastardo (7-0, 1.85) and first pitch will be at 7:05 p.m.

Game Notes:

The 19 hits off Augusta was a season high, with the previous high of 17 being set on April 16 in a 12-8 win over Charleston.

The 12 run margin of defeat ties a season high mark; Augusta lost 14-2 on June 24 at Greensboro.

Marcus Sanders had his 7 game hit streak snapped.

Ryan Rohlinger finished 2-for-4, the only GreenJacket with multiple hits.

Augusta had its five game win streak snapped.
