Hickory Crawdads News Release
Hickory, NC-The Hickory Crawdads beat the Rome Braves, 9-0, on Wednesday at L.P. Frans Stadium. Hickory picked up its 5th shutout win of the year behind an outstanding start from Dustin Craig. Craig, now 3-2 after the win, allowed no runs on just 5 hits in 6.2 IP. Eric Krebs completed the blanking of the Braves, with 2.1 shutout innings and earned his 1st save. Jonel Pacheco led the way offensively for the Dads'. Pacheco went 3-5 with a pair of doubles and 3 RBI. Alex Presley also knocked in 3 runs on 3 hits. Albert LaBoy added 3 hits. Mike Ambrose chipped in with a 2-3 effort and 2 runs scored. Hickory scored a run in the 4th, 3 runs in the 5th, and 5 more in the 8th. Kent Sakamoto made the play of the game defensively. With the bases loaded and the game still scoreless in the 2nd, Sakamoto ranged to his left at first to snare a liner hit by Yohan Silva. Sakamoto sent the ball over to 2nd to pull off the inning ending line drive double play, to end a bases loaded threat. The Crawdads continue their 4 game series at home against Rome tomorrow night at 7:00. RHP Bradley Clapp is scheduled to start for Hickory. All games can be heard live on WMNC 92.1 FM.
