Hagerstown Suns News Release
BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Hagerstown Suns gave up eight runs in the middle four innings of Thursday night's game against the Bowling Green Hot Rods, eventually losing 10-5.
Hagerstown got on the scoreboard first with a run in the top of the third inning, as Nick Arata singled and later scored on a ground-out by Robby Jacobsen.
The lead did not last though, as the Hot Rods responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third inning off Suns starter Patrick Arnold.
The Suns tied the score at 2-2 in the top of the fourth inning when Tyler Moore tripled and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Steven Souza.
Once more, the Hot Rods responded immediately, this time with a three run home run in the bottom of the fourth, and once more the Suns rallied to tie the score. In the top of the fifth inning, Hagerstown scored three times on two hits, including a two-run double from Moore, knotting the game at 5-5.
Those three runs in the fifth would be the last offensive output for Hagerstown, as Bowling Green went on to score five unanswered runs: one in the fifth and two in the sixth and eighth innings.
Austin Garret (3-3) took the loss for Hagerstown, allowing one run in two innings of work after relieving Arnold. Arnold pitched three innings and allowed five runs on seven hits, including two home runs.
Neil Schenk earned the win for Bowling Green with three and two thirds innings of scoreless work in relief of Hot Rods starter Frank De Los Santos. De Los Santos surrendered five runs in four and one third innings of work.
The Suns and Hot Rods will play the third game of their four-game series at Bowling Green Ballpark on Friday, July 24th. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 local time, 8:05 p.m. on the East Coast.
