Asheville Tourists News Release
(Asheville, NC) - The Lakewood BlueClaws took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning and never relinquished their advantage, surviving several Tourists rallies for a 6-4 victory. Kiel Roling hit his tenth homerun of the season in the Asheville loss, and Ryan Peisel continued to destroy the ball, going 3-for-4 with an RBI single to raise his batting average to a season-high .297.
Jonnathan Aristil got the start for the Tourists and worked into trouble in the top of the second. After striking out the leadoff batter, Aristil hit a batter and walked another to put runners on first and second. Shortstop Troy Hanzawa delivered his second homerun of the season, a three-run shot to left field, giving Lakewood the early 3-0 lead.
The BlueClaws scratched out another run in the top of the fifth when Travis D'Arnaud doubled with one out. He advanced to third base on a flyout, and came in to score on an error by third baseman Ryan Peisel. The unearned run gave the BlueClaws a 4-0 advantage. Aristil finished his night with five runs (four earned) on eight hits over 5.1 innings.
The Tourists got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning when Thomas Field picked up a one-out double and came around to score on a wild pitch to make it 4-1 Lakewood. The teams then exchanged runs in the sixth inning, with the BlueClaws plating a run in the top half on an Anthony Gose single. With Lakewood leading 5-1, Asheville pushed across a couple of runs in the bottom half on RBI singles by Ryan Peisel and Tyler Massey, pulling the Tourists within 5-3.
Asheville came within a run when Kiel Roling smashed his tenth homerun of the year over the right field wall in the bottom of the seventh. The homer made the score 5-4 Lakewood heading into the eighth inning, but the BlueClaws got an insurance run in the ninth when D'Arby Myers led off with a single and scored on two wild pitches.
The Tourists went down in order in the bottom of the ninth, as Lakewood closer B.J. Rosenberg notched his 16th save of the season.
