Hagerstown Suns News Release
Hagerstown, MD: The Hagerstown Suns shutout the Delmarva Shorebirds in eight of nine innings, yet still lost 3-2 in game one of a three game series to end the first half. A three-run fourth inning was all the Shorebirds (37-29) needed to win this game because the Suns (26-42) were only able to manage two runs on six hits. Jim Hoey earned his league-leading 18th save with a scoreless ninth, but the Suns did have a chance with a runner on second and one out in the final frame.
The Shorebirds and Suns go at it again on Saturday at 7:05pm with the Suns sending RHP Bobby Parnell (1-4) up against RHP Brandon Erbe (4-3) in an excellent pitching matchup. Classic Rock 101.5 sponsors a post-game Fireworks Extravaganza in what is forecasted to be sunny and 90 degree day in Hagerstown. Join the radio team as the Suns broadcast the game with fan participation from the beer garden down the left field line.
