MOBILE, Ala. - Brad Stone tossed six innings of one-hit shutout ball to pace the Jacksonville Suns past the BayBears on Tuesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium, 4-1, earning the Suns a spot in the Southern League Playoffs.

Stone (6-3) and Matt Torra (8-13) traded zeroes through the first three frames, but in the fourth, the Suns (75-54, 40-19) grabbed the advantage with Mike Stanton singling and scoring on a double off the center-field wall by Scott Cousins.

In the fifth, Jacksonville once again used the two-base hit to their advantage as Brad Davis singled and scored on a double by Chris De La Cruz. Logan Morrison put the Suns in front by three with a two-bagger of his to score De La Cruz.

It was a relatively quiet night for the BayBears (61-68, 24-35) on offense as they didn't pick up their first hit until the fourth when Bryan Byrne singled with outs. He moved up to second on a walk and scooted to third on an error by second baseman Kevin Randel. Chris Rahl couldn't capitalize on the misplay however as he bounced into a fielder's choice to end the threat.

Not until Stone checked out after six is when the BayBears finally lit the scoreboard as Rahl singled with one away and stole second against Chris Leroux. When Evan Frey bounced a ball to the right side, Morrison made a diving stop, but Leroux was late to cover first. As Frey legged out a hit, Rahl raced around third and scored.

Jacksonville added an insurance run in the eighth against Josh Ellis as Morrison walked and advanced to second a single by Cousins. With two outs, Ellis coughed up a line-drive to right-center off the bat of Matt Dominguez to give the Suns a three-run lead once again.

Following Leroux out of the Jacksonville bullpen, Kasey Olenberger tossed a scoreless eighth while Matt Peterson (S, 32) surrendered a couple knocks in the ninth but escaped trouble with a pick-off of Guillermo Reyes to get the champagne flowing in the visitors' clubhouse.

The Mobile BayBears have sent nearly 100 players to the major leagues. They host the Suns in the finale of their five-game series on Wednesday night at 7:05 with Barry Enright (9-8, 3.86) getting the start. For Hank Aaron Stadium tickets, call (251) 479-BEAR or log on to www.mobilebaybears.com.
