
Suns Blank Shorebirds 7-0 In Series Opener

Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds struggled to get the offense going as the Hagerstown Suns took the series opener, 7-0, at Perdue Stadium on Saturday. The Shorebirds managed seven hits and were 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
After three scoreless innings, Hagerstown cracked the scoreboard in the fourth. Eury Perez drove home J.P. Ramirez with a single. The next batter, Jeff Kobernus connected on a sacrifice fly RBI to center field to give the Suns a 2-0 edge.
The Suns added three more runs in the fifth inning and two more in the ninth inning. Hagerstown recorded 13 hits on the evening.
Hagerstown starter Paul Demny earned the win in 5.2 innings pitched. He allowed just three hits and no runs. Shorebirds starter Jesse Beal took the loss in 4.2 innings pitched. He surrendered 10 hits and five earned runs.
Tony Butler tossed the final 4.1 innings. He gave up three hits and two runs.
The Shorebirds and Suns meet for game two of the series on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. RHP Kenny Moreland makes his third start of the season.
