Sundogs Top Bucks, 3-1, on Second Period Surge

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ - Two goals in the first 4:40 of period two was the difference on Friday night as the Arizona Sundogs prevailed over the Laredo Bucks in a 3-1 win at Tim's Toyota Center.

Scott Reid stopped 32 shots to earn his ninth win of the season and give the Sundogs (11-17-6) sole possession of sixth place in the CHL's Berry Conference.

After a scoreless first period, the Sundogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening minutes of period two. Kyle Hood buried a centering pass after Daymen Rycroft forced a turnover in the corner on the forecheck. The goal was Hood's team-leading 12th of the season. Samson Mahbod added another for Arizona, scoring on his own rebound after driving the net down the middle of the ice.

Neil Trimm cut into the Sundogs' lead with a wrist shot between the circles to finish off a 3-on-2 rush at 5:39 of the middle frame.

JP Chabot added the empty-netter with 55 seconds to play for his 12th goal of the year.

Torrie Jung took the loss for Laredo (13-19-0) despite a 54-save performance.

Both teams came up empty on the power play as Arizona went 0-for-2 and Laredo finished 0-for-3.

Arizona and Laredo conclude their two-game set on Saturday at 7:05 PM MST.
