Top Three

1.) All-Star Roundup- The 2012 CHL All-Star Game is in the books with the All-Stars defeating the host Arizona Sundogs 6-4 in a highly competitive contest in front of more than 4,700 at Tim's Toyota Center. Quad City forward Brandon Marino (the league's leading goal scorer with 22) earned the game's Most Valuable Player honor with the game winning goal and three assists. Arizona's Kevin Petovello scored two goals for the Sundogs earning the MVP honor for his team. Wichita's Matt Robinson, who scored a hat trick in last year's all-star game, scored two times and added an assist and Dayton's Brett Lutes and Evansville's Todd Robinson each had a pair of helpers. Texas goaltender Mark Guggenberger earned the victory allowing just one goal on 36 shots. The Sundogs equaled the most shots ever by a single team in a CHL All-Star Game with 75.

2.) Ice-Hot- No team in the CHL is hotter than the Evansville IceMen (18-9-3) who enter their showdown on Saturday night with Turner Conference leading Fort Wayne (22-9-1) on a four-game point streak (3-0-1). The Komets lead the IceMen by six points in the conference standings and have won five straight against their in-state rivals. Evansville has earned points in seven of their last nine games going 5-2-2 over that stretch. All-Star Todd Robinson is the reigning Oakley CHL Player of the Week with two goals and eight assists in last week's four games and goaltender Bryan Gillis is the reigning Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week going 3-0 allowing just five goals in last week's action. Evansville will travel to Dayton (12-14-7) on Sunday in their other game this weekend.

3.) Home Cooking- The Rapid City Rush (18-12-1) have turned their season around in recent weeks winning 10 of their last 13 games and doing most of that damage during a stretch of home games. The Rush have tied a franchise record with eight straight wins on home ice and this weekend will square off against the best in the Berry Conference, the Wichita Thunder (21-8-2). The Thunder and Rush each boast an eight-game home winning streak this season, the longest of the 2011-12 campaign. Wichita has defeated the Rush in both previous meetings this season but Rapid City leads the all-time series with a 17-8-1 mark. Les Reaney has been the best against Wichita scoring 28 points (12-16=28) in 18 games.

Inside the Numbers

223: The number of penalty minutes the Allen Americans accumulated in the final game before the All-Star break, a 2-1 loss in Laredo. The total minutes by one team is the most in more than a decade and the third most in a single game in the history of the league. The record is held by Huntsville (241 PIM's on Nov. 5, 1999). The one game total moved the Americans to the top of the league averaging 23.69 minutes per game. Allen had just two game misconducts entering the game but racked up 15 in that one contest. Surprisingly, the game had just one minor penalty called in the first two periods before the Americans and Bucks combined for 300 minutes in the final period.

On the Fly

-The CHL Hall of Fame opened its doors for the first time during the all-star festivities and on Tuesday night at the All-Star Banquet, Joe Burton was named the first player inducted into the newly formed Hall. Rick Kozuback and Brad Treliving were also inducted as "˜Builders'.

-Bloomington forward Vladimir Nikiforov has been a huge addition for the Blaze notching points in 17 of the 20 games he has played and he is currently on a five-game point streak (3G, 4A). The Hauppauge, New York native has 11 goals and 16 assists this season ranking second on the team.

-The Quad City Mallards boast the most point-per-game players of any team in the CHL with five Brandon Marino (46 points in 32 games), Eric Giosa (40 in 32), Jared Brown (35 in 32), Justin Chwedoruk (30 in 29) and John Snowden (28 in 24) all notching a point a contest. No other CHL team has more than three players that can brag that type of offensive production.

-All-Star Game winning goaltender Mark Guggenberger continues to pace the league with a 2.29 goals against average to go along with his 9-4-2 record. The rookie stopped 35 of 36 shots in Wednesday's All-Star Game earning the win for the CHL team. Despite the outstanding all-around numbers, Guggenberger is 2-3-1 in his last six decisions but has just allowed 15 goals over those six games.

-The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (14-13-5) play at home this weekend for the first time since Dec. 21 when they host the Texas Brahmas (15-11-7) in a pair of games. The Bees went 3-2-1 on their six-game journey that saw them travel to Allen, Arizona and Rapid City. The Bees are 9-5-3 on home ice, while the Brahmas are 7-9-3 on the road.-Dayton (12-14-7) will welcome a pair of new players into the line-up on Friday night when they play at Quad City (19-12-1) as both David Nimmo and Robin Richards are expected to play. The pair were acquired in separate deals from Arizona and Wichita respectively. Nimmo, the 2008 CHL Rookie of the Year, has 201 points (93-108=201) in 204 career CHL games.

-What a difference a year makes as the Fort Wayne Komets have gone from worst to first comparing their number from last season to this season through 32 games. A year ago, the Komets were in last place in the league with an 11-16-5 record (27 points) while this year they are atop the 14-team circuit with a 22-9-1 record (45 points).

-Missouri's (16-13-3) new additions have begun paying immediate dividends helping the team win four of their last five games. Patrick Schafer has three assists in three games with the Mavs and Levente Szuper won his only start in net stopping 40 of 43 shots last Saturday in a 6-3 win over Quad City. Finally, defenseman Tristen Llewellyn has an assist in three games. Missouri hosts Allen (18-7-7) on Friday night.
