Sundogs Recognized in Annual CHL Best of the Best, Grab Six Number One Spots in Poll

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Central Hockey League today released its annual "Best of the Best" poll and the Arizona Sundogs Hockey Club, in its second year of existence, received mention in eleven total categories, including six number one finishes.

CHL All-Star Game MVP and leading scorer Alex Leavitt received mention in two categories, including being voted as the league's ‘Best Stickhandler'. Leavitt was also listed in the ‘Best Playmaker' category, where he was listed at number three behind Rocky Mountain's Brent Cullaton and Laredo's Jeff Bes.

Veteran defenseman and Sundogs captain Chris Bartolone also received mention in the poll, being toted as the number three ‘Best Leader'. Phoenix Coyotes prospect Kevin Cormier was voted the league's ‘Best Heavyweight Fighter' while rookie forward Mark Kolanos placed number two in the ‘Best Rookie' category behind Amarillo's David Nimmo.

Sundogs Head Equipment Manager George McNichols and Head Athletic Trainer Dan Welch were recognized by the league Saturday, being recognized as the league's ‘Best Training/Equipment Staff'.

Other categories the Sundogs received top recognition include ‘Best Website', ‘Best Arena Music' and ‘Best On-Ice Promotions', all first-place finishes.

Arizona Sundogs fans and Tim's Toyota Center also received mention in the annual poll on Saturday, occupying the number three spots in both the ‘Best Fans' and ‘Toughest Building to Win In' categories.

The poll, issued to all seventeen CHL-member clubs, was voted on by coaching staffs, players and front office personnel. A complete listing of the CHL "Best of the Best" Poll is available at www.centralhockeyleague.com.
