Hounds fall to Eagles 4-3 in shootout

LOVELAND, COLORADO - The Youngstown SteelHounds came a nail short from picking up their first ever win at the Budweiser Events Center as they fell to the Colorado Eagles 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday night. Andy Franck set a franchise record with 49 saves in the shootout loss. The Hounds are 33-19-5 (71 points) and are tied with the Mississippi RiverKings (34-20-3, 71 points) for fourth in the Northern Conference and second in the Northeast Division.

At 10:19 Aaron Schneekloth scored a power play goal to put Colorado up 1-0. The Eagles were 3-6 on the power play while Youngstown was 1-5. Joel Irving tied the game at 14:04 to make it 1-1 after one period.

In the second period Kurtis Dulle scored a power play goal for his fourth tally of the season to put the Hounds up 2-1. The Eagles responded with two power play goals from Ryan Tobler at 16:39 and Riley Nelson at 19:37 to put Colorado up 3-2 after two.

At 16:18 of the third period Eric Przepiorka rifled a slap shot past Bryan Bridges to tie the game at three and force overtime and the eventual shootout.

It took six rounds to finish the game as Riley Nelson beat Andy Franck to give the Eagles a 2-1 shootout victory and a 4-3 win.

The Hounds finish the road end of their schedule on Sunday night when they take on the Wichita Thunder at 6:05. All SteelHounds games are available on ESPN Radio 1240 and SteelHounds.com.
