Arizona Sundogs News Release
The Arizona Sundogs (5-8-2) return to Prescott Valley for a two-game set against the Colorado Eagles this weekend after going 1-2-0 in a three-game road trip last week. Arizona fell to the expansion Allen Americans for the third time in as many tries this season Thursday night by a 4-2 mark. The Sundogs then traveled to Wichita Friday night where they lost their first-ever contest to the Thunder, 3-2. On Saturday, Arizona closed out the three-game trip with its first shootout win of the year, topping the Amarillo Gorillas, 5-4. Konrad Reeder netted his first hat trick since the 2007-08 season while with the New Mexico Scorpions in the win.
Sundogs Storylines:
- After just four goals in his first 14 games to start the season, Konrad Reeder exploded for three in Saturday night's 5-4 shootout win over the Amarillo Gorillas, scoring the team's first three markers. The two-time CHL All-Star also tallied for Arizona in the five-round shootout. Reeder is currently riding a seven-game point streak that has seen him collect nine points (5g/4a). He is now tied with Torren Delforte for the team scoring lead with 16 points (7g/9a). His plus-11 rating also leads the team.
- Held without a goal in his first five games, Linus Fagemo has returned from the 14-day I.R. with a vengeance, collecting five goals in his first five games back with the team. Minus-5 through his first five games, the Swedish forward has trimmed that rating to minus-2 after collecting a plus-3 rating in the last five games.
- Defenseman Jon Landry has netted 10 points in his last eight games after being held to just a goal in his first five with the Sundogs to start the year and now ranks tied for sixth among CHL blue liners in scoring with 11 points (3g/8a). His plus-8 rating is fifth-best among CHL defensemen.
- Player/assistant coach Chris Bartolone is just eight games away from his 1,000th as a pro. The veteran defenseman has one goal and nine assists in 15 games with Arizona this season. His 10 points are tied for ninth among league defensemen and his plus-7 rating is sixth-best, one back of teammate and defensive partner Jon Landry.
- Arizona has the second-best plus/minus rating in the CHL at plus-44. Colorado leads the league at plus-69 while Allen ranks third at plus-41. Tulsa is fourth-best at plus-39. Konrad Reeder's plus-11 is tied for third-best in the CHL.
- The Sundogs' 10 losses have come by a total of 15 goals for an average of 1.5 per game.
- Arizona is the only team in the CHL with a losing record that has a positive goal differential. They have scored 53 goals for and have allowed 52 goals against.
