Sundogs Ink Defenseman Wessbecker

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Arizona Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro announced today the team has agreed to terms with defenseman John Wessbecker for the 2010-11 season.

Wessbecker, 24, skated in two preseason games with Rapid City this season collecting one shot and seven penalty minutes (PIM) before being released.

After a four-year collegiate career at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (NCAA), the former seventh round (225th overall) draft pick of the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning appeared in nine contests with the ECHL's Trenton Devils in 2009-10 totaling nine PIM.

In 123 career games with the UMass Minutemen, the 6-foot-2, 195-pound Wessbecker registered two goals, 10 assists and 80 PIM.
