Sundogs Hold on for 3-2 Win Over Allen

ALLEN, TX - Kyle Hood's third period goal, plus three-point nights by Daymen Rycroft and Craig Macdonald propelled the Arizona Sundogs to a 3-2 win at the Allen Event Center on Friday over the Allen Americans.

With the goal, Hood extended his point streak to six games. Rycroft also tallied the 400th point of his pro career with an assist in the second period.

Both teams traded first period goals and Nick Layton scored for Allen less than three minutes into the game. Daymen Rycroft deflected home a Tyler Butler shot to tie the game for Arizona.

It was the same story in period two as Arizona took a 2-1 lead on the power play after Jesse Perrin's redirection effort at the right side of the net bounced off the back of Allen netminder Brian Mahoney-Wilson and in the net 8:35 in. Allen tied the game back on Layton's second goal at the front of the net with less than a minute to play.

Scott Reid recorded his first win of the season for Arizona with a 33-save performance. Brian Mahoney-Wilson took the loss in his first action of the season, stopping 27 shots.

Arizona scored a power play goal for the fifth straight game and went 1-for-3. Allen was 0-for-4.

The Sundogs and Americans conclude their two-game set on Saturday at the Allen Event Center. Game time is slated for 5:05 PM PST.
