Connecticut Sun News Release
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (May 23, 2013) - The Connecticut Sun announced today it has waived Latoya Williams and Johannah Leedham.
The Sun now have the WNBA minimum of 11 players on the roster.
"This was an extremely difficult decision and it honestly came down to the last possible day for our coaching staff," coach Anne Donovan said. "Right from the beginning, everyone who participated in our training camp made a strong case for inclusion on this team. Certainly, Johannah and Latoya were in the mix until the very end. Unfortunately, with an 11-player roster, these are the tough choices we face."
Williams, a 6-foot-4 center who was signed by the Sun as a free agent on February 21st, averaged 6.0 points in three preseason games for the Sun. Selected by the Sun in the third round of the 2010 WNBA Draft, Leedham spent the past two seasons playing overseas. In three preseason games for the Sun this year, she averaged 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds.
The Connecticut Sun will open its 11th season at Mohegan Sun Arena on May 25th against the New York Liberty at 7 p.m. Season tickets and mini plans are on sale now, and can be reserved by calling a Sun Ticket Representative at 1.877.SUN.TIXX (786-8499) or via e-mail at tickets@connecticutsun.com.
