Connecticut Sun News Release
UNCASVILLE, CT. (May 20, 2004) â The Connecticut Sun has reached an agreement with Fox 61 and WB20, which will broadcast five games during the 2004 season.
Respected Boston Celtics' announcer Mike Gorman returns to handle play-by-play duties for the Sun while Rebecca Lobo will provide color commentary.
"We are pleased with the opportunity to partner with Fox 61 and WB20 to broadcast select Connecticut Sun games to our fans across the state," Sun General Manager Chris Sienko said. "We feel there is a great synergy between our organizations, and that together, we will be able to showcase the Connecticut Sun effectively, and efficiently."
Along with the five games, Fox 61 and WB20 will also produce at least two specials.
"We're excited to be the broadcast home of the Connecticut Sun," said Gary Zenobi, the Vice President and General Manager of Fox 61 and Connecticut's WB20. "Over the past 10 years, Fox 61 and WB 20 have become known as the home of Connecticut's favorite teams; the national championship UConn men's basketball team, the New York Giants, the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees and the champion teams of NASCAR. All of Connecticut's favorites appear on Fox 61 and WB20. Carrying the Connecticut Sun gives us an incredible opportunity to be part of the growth of Connecticut's next major sports brand."
Fox 61 will broadcast its first Sun game on May 27th, when Connecticut hosts the Los Angeles Sparks.
