
Taurasi, Jackson don't disappoint in openers

Phoenix Mercury rookie Diana Taurasi scored 22 points this evening in the Mercury's 72-66 loss to the Sacramento Monarchs, just missing the league record for points scored by a rookie in her WNBA debut. Tamika Catchings (Indiana Fever) and Stacey Dales-Schuman (Washington Mystics) each scored 23 points in their rookie debutes back on June 1, 2002.
Seattle's Lauren Jackson scored 31 points in Seattle's 88-85 win over Minnesota -- the second most points scored by a WNBA player in a season opener.
