
Sun Open Preseason Against Detroit Shock On Sunday, May 7th

UNCASVILLE, CT. (May 3, 2006) - The two-time defending Eastern Conference Champion Connecticut Sun will host Swin Cash and the Detroit Shock in its preseason opener at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 7th at Mohegan Sun Arena.
This will be the first meeting between the Eastern Conference rivals since last September, when the Sun swept the Shock 2-0 in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. The teams have split the last eight regular season meetings dating back to 2004.
Following the Detroit game, Connecticut will travel to Albuquerque, N.M., for a rematch of the WNBA Finals, facing the Sacramento Monarchs at The Pit on Tuesday, May 9th. The Sun close out the preseason Saturday, May 13th at Phoenix. They open the regular season one week later at Mohegan Sun Arena, hosting the New York Liberty on May 20th at 7 p.m.
"We're looking forward to the start of the 2006 season, and we think our preseason schedule will help us better prepare for the tough competition ahead," Connecticut Sun General Manager Chris Sienko said.
