Seattle Storm News Release
This Week's Opponent
New York Liberty: The Storm and Liberty split a pair of games last season, with both teams winning on their home floor. Iziane Castro Marques led the way for the Storm in the opener, pouring in a career-high 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting (including 4-of-4 from beyond the arc) to help Seattle to a 87-78 win on July 19. In the Aug. 6 rematch, Sue Bird's 12 points and season-high 10 assists were not enough to overcome New York's hot shooting as the Liberty earned the season-series split with a 79-67 win.
The Storm and Liberty will be tipping off the preseason against each other for the second consecutive year. The teams met in an exhibition matchup in New York last spring with the Liberty winning 72-58 on May 7. Janell Burse led the Storm with 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
