
Suarez, McLoughlin Combine for One-Hit Shutout to Defeat Senators

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Joander Suarez and Trey McLoughlin combined to throw a one-hit shutout, as the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (29-23, 64-57) beat the Harrisburg Senators, 1-0, on Thursday night at Mirabito Stadium.
Suarez (1-0) threw six no-hit innings with six strikeouts and just one walk in his Double-A debut. He retired the first 10 batters that he faced before issuing a walk and then retiring the following eight batters in a row.
McLoughlin threw three shutout frames with four strikeouts, while allowing just one hit. The only hit for Harrisburg (24-30, 55-67) was a triple from Brady House that led off the eighth inning. McLoughlin earned his fourth save of the season.
The Ponies scored their lone run of the game in the fifth inning. Kevin Parada drove in his first run at the Double-A level, reaching on a fielder's choice that scored Luisangel Acuña from third to make it 1-0.
Acuña reached on an error and Drew Gilbert followed with a single that allowed Acuña to advance to third base. With runners at the corners, Parada followed with the RBI fielder's choice.
The Rumble Ponies have won 10 of their last 12 games, four-straight games, and each of the first three games in this series.
Binghamton continues its series with the Senators at Mirabito Stadium on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and pregame coverage will begin at 6:50 p.m. on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.
Postgame Notes: Suarez and McLoughlin combined to strike out 10 batters and walk just one...Gilbert reached base three times with a single and two walks...Jeremiah Jackson hit two singles and recorded his third multi-hit game with Binghamton...Jackson extended his on-base streak to 14 games and has now reached base safely in 23 of his first 24 games with the Rumble Ponies...Kevin Villavicencio made his Double-A debut and drew a walk in the seventh inning.
