York Revolution News Release
(York, Pa.): With the season's official kick-off party set for this Saturday, the York Revolution today announced more details regarding 2010 Fan Fest presented by Great Country 107.7. The Revs will honor our country and those who support our freedom at home and abroad by hosting the United States Military All-Stars in the Heroes of the Diamond Game, presented by General Dynamics. As part of some moving pregame festivities, many of America's heroes will take the field, as the 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team will lead a patriotic on-field tribute during introductions. A huge number of veterans will be partaking in the memorable ceremony, complete with a giant American flag, brought in by the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Though it will certainly be a day of remembrance and honoring those who put their lives on the line for our freedom, it will also be a fun-filled afternoon, with the party beginning at 1 p.m. along Brooks Robinson Plaza. The party will include all kinds of games and entertainment, the team's annual Fashion Show, and a concert by rising country music stars, The Harters.
Discovered by renowned producer Keith Stegall who is known for his work as Alan Jackson's producer, The Harters are among country music's hottest rising stars. Fans will have an opportunity to take part in an Autograph Session with the band following their performance. Check out their official website at www.TheHarters.tv .
Stadium gates open at 2 p.m. for the Heroes of the Diamond Game, presented by General Dynamics. The first 1,000 fans through the gates receive a Camouflage Hat Giveaway, presented by St. Onge.
First pitch of Saturday's exhibition between the Revs and the United States Military All-Stars is set for 3 p.m. As part of the on-field ceremonies prior to the game, members of the 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team will take the field as flag bearers.
The 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team features more than 4,000 members, many of whom will be on-hand. The team operated out of Camp Taji, Iraq, and served as part of Multi-National Division Baghdad under the 1st Cavalry Division. The 56th Stryker Brigade served in a roughly 800 square-mile area north of Baghdad from late January until August 31, 2009. It was the largest deployment since the Korean War, and the first deployment for the only Stryker Brigade in the entire National Guard.
Joining the 56th Stryker Brigade on the field will be Gold Star Mothers of America, and members of SOAR (Support Our American Recruits). The Pennsylvania National Guard will present the giant American flag on the field. The Spirit Community Choir will sing the National Anthem.
While it promises to be a day packed full of emotion, and honoring those who fight for our freedom, it is also a day of fun as Revolution fans reign in the new season. On a lighter note, we'll see the debut of the Revs' Team Puppy. Not only will the ballclub's four-legged friend, adopted from the York County SPCA, make his on-field debut, but the much anticipated unveiling of his name will be announced this Saturday as well.
During the course of the ballgame, the Revs will debut all-new on-field promotions between innings, which are sure to become favorites at the ballpark throughout the course of the season.
There are all kinds of great deals for fans to attend the event, including free admission for all military personnel who show their military ID. Admission is also free for all full-season, 27-game, and 24-game season ticket-holders. For any other package-holder, admission costs just $2, and for everyone else, a ticket costs just $4.
Tickets are still available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, or in person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
Also as in years past, all package ticket-holders can pick up their season tickets at Sovereign Bank Stadium during Fan Fest, as well as receive their yard-signs sponsored by OSS. Package ticket-holders can also pick up their pre-purchased parking plans at Fan Fest this year.
