YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The Youngstown Phantoms topped the Chicago Steel by a final score of 4-1 Saturday night, scoring a pair of third period goals to seal the victory.

"I thought we jumped on them early. Hopefully we show some resilience in our game and can get right back to it tomorrow," said Phantoms Head Coach John Wroblewski.

Youngstown's top line of Chase Pearson, Yushiro Hirano, and Cam Morrison had an outstanding night, recording five points between them.

"I think we're really starting to click. It's coming together out there, which we need to do. We're relied on to score and I think we are doing that pretty well right now," Pearson said.

Hirano got the Phantoms on the board first, scoring on the power play with a blast from the point. The Steel would answer however, tying the contest less than a minute later.

The second period was highly contested, until Kris Myllari and Pearson put on a passing clinic and found Morrison all alone on the side of Steel goaltender John Lethemon. Morrison's goal came right as the Phantoms had killed of a Lukas Craggs minor penalty.

Morrison wasn't done there, as he danced around two Chicago defenders and found Hirano in the high slot. Hirano blistered a shot into the top right corner for his team leading ninth goal of the season.

James Winkler would add an insurance goal for Youngstown, finding the rebound after Tyler Drevitch's backhand shot was saved.

Phantoms goaltender Ryan Bednard continued his streak of solid performances, turning away 24 of 25 Chicago shot attempts.

Youngstown was strong on special teams, killing of all five of Chicago's power play opportunities.

"Special teams has to be a staple for us, and it was huge tonight. Still room to get better, but definitely headed in the right direction," Wroblewski said.

The Phantoms will face the Steel in Chicago again tomorrow. Puck drop is set for 3p.m. local time.
