GENEVA, ILLINOIS - Jake Jaremko scored twice as the Chicago Steel (5-9-1-1, 12 points) snapped a five-game home winless streak, defeating the Youngstown Phantoms (7-6-1-0, 15 points) 3-1 Sunday at Fox Valley Ice Arena. Jaremko tallied a league-leading sixth power play goal and recorded his first shorthanded goal of the season. Daniel Vladar and John Lethemon combined for 25 saves in the win.

Chicago was first on the scoreboard, tallying a goal on the first power play of the game. Matt Kiersted's shot from the left boards was directed wide right by Colin DeAugustine into the path of Jaremko, who buried the rebound into an open net. The Steel mustered 17 shots on goal in the first period, the second most by the team in a single frame this season.

Youngstown took just 46 seconds into the second period to tie up the contest. Following Daniel Vladar's exit from the game after getting hit in the mask by a puck, Yushiro Hirano's initial shot from center ice was blocked, but he got just enough on his second effort to roll the puck to past the right skate of Lethemon. For Hirano, it was his third goal of the weekend.

Midway through the second period, Charlie Raith went toe-to-toe with Tyler Drevitch in an altercation that fired up the home side. The Steel responded to take back the lead on a shorthanded goal from Jaremko, who chased down a dumped puck along the boards, picked the pocket of the netminder from behind the goal and quickly wrapped it into an empty net to make it 2-1. With the two goals, Jaremko recorded his fourth multi-goal game of the season and second against Youngstown.

The Steel tallied an early goal of their own in the third period, scoring 48 seconds into the frame. Marcel Godbout collected a rebound, went around the back of the Phantoms goal and wrapped the puck past the left post to extend the lead to 3-1. Lethemon helped seal the win with eight saves in the third.

"After last night's game, I told the guys the big positive is that we get to go again here in less than 24 hours," said Steel Head Coach Dan Muse. "We were very excited to get another opportunity to play that quickly. We weren't happy with the effort last night and I thought we looked like a different team here today."

The Steel continue their current six-game stand at Fox Valley Ice Arena next weekend starting with the Bloomington Thunder on Friday, November 20, before Chicago takes on the Madison Capitols on Saturday, November 21.
