YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The Chicago Steel downed the Youngstown Phantoms by a final score of 3-1 Sunday at the Fox Valley Ice Arena. Special teams once again played a huge role in the contest, with Youngstown surrendering a power play and shorthanded goal.

"Special teams cost us again tonight. It's been an issue for us so far this season and something we will continue to address going forward," said Phantoms Head Coach John Wroblewski.

Chicago stuck first when Jake Jaremko beat goaltender Colin DeAugustine with a rebound goal on the power play.

The Phantoms would tie the game just seconds into the period when Yushiro Hirano beat Steel goaltender John Lethemon. Lethemon had just entered the game after Chicago's other goalie, Daniel Vladar, had to go to the dressing room after being cut.

Tyler Drevitch would drop the gloves and go toe to toe with Steel defenseman Charlie Raith, who earned an additional penalty for slashing. Trouble would strike on the Phantoms power play however, after a communication breakdown between DeAugustine and his defensemen led to Jaremko scoring his second of the game. Marcel Godbout would add a third period tally to give the Steel the 3-1 victory.

A bright spot on the night and all weekend for the Phantoms was the play of newcomer Noah Lalonde. He joins the Phantoms from the Detroit Honeybaked AAA U-18 squad. Though Lalonde was held off the score sheet, his play got stronger for Youngstown as the weekend went on.

"I was expecting the game to be a lot faster than I am used to, but the guys I was playing with definitely made it easier to adjust. By the end of the weekend I felt pretty comfortable, it was a great experience," Lalonde said.

The Phantoms will hit the road again next weekend for a two game series in Lincoln, Nebraska against the USHL's top team in the standings, the Lincoln Stars.
