Rome Emperors News Release

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves were shutout by the Asheville Tourists 2-0 Thursday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium before 4,220 fans. Both teams were scoreless until the eighth inning when Asheville would put two runs on the board. Two singles and walk would load the bases for the Tourists before back to back RBI singles by Tyler Massey and Sam Mende for the 2-0 score. That would be all they would need as the Asheville bullpen kept Rome off the board the rest of the way for the 2-0 victory.

Despite the loss, Braves pitching continued their strong performance and did not give up an extra base hit in the game. The Rome pitching staff has allowed only three runs in 18 innings.

Vianney Mayo (2-3) records the win for Asheville. Mayo pitched 7.1 innings, giving up four hits, two walks and striking out two. John Cornely (0-2) would be charged with the loss after coming on in the eighth inning to relieve starter Navery Moore.

The Braves take on the Asheville Tourists again Friday evening at 7 PM. The first 1,000 fans admitted into State Mutual Stadium will receive a free gym bag, presented by Harbin Clinic and Xfinity. For ticket information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
