LAKEWOOD, N.J. - For the second time in 11 games Maikel Franco lifted the BlueClaws to victory with a walk-off base hit, this time a walk-off double in the bottom of the 9th inning for a 1-0 win over the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

The game was scoreless entering the bottom of the 9th inning with both teams combining for just six total hits up to that point in the ballgame. Brian Pointer began the inning with a walk before Aaron Altherr struck out. Franco was 0-for-3 up to that point in the ballgame, and he doubled into the left field corner to send Pointer racing around from first base. The relay throw into the plate would have been in plenty of time, but it went high to the backstop and Pointer slid in safely for the win.

Lino Martinez had his best outing for the BlueClaws with seven shutout innings, but he left the game tied 0-0. He was the first Lakewood pitcher this year to pitch seven innings, but was not rewarded for his effort. Matt Campbell pitched a scoreless 8th and 9th innings for the victory and is now 1-1 on the season with two earned runs in ten innings of work.

The BlueClaws and Grasshoppers continue the four-game series Friday at FirstEnergy Park. Lakewood will send Ervis Manzanillo (0-2, 5.88) to the mound against Greensboro's Jose Fernandez (3-0, 1.75) as they look to win their second consecutive ballgame after returning home from a 1-6 road trip. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
