Modesto Nuts News Release
San Jose, CA. - Andrew Suarez baffled the Modesto Nuts bats in a 5-2 loss to the San Jose Giants on Thursday night at Municipal Stadium.
The Giants (6-6) starter, Andrew Suarez (W, 1-1) was dominant over seven innings allowing just one run while striking out one and walking none.
Carlos Polanco (L, 0-1) got off to a good start before the wheels fell off in the fifth. The Nuts' (6-8) righty starter gave up a lead-off single before hitting two batters. He then walked CJ Hinojosa with the bases loaded to bring in the go-ahead run. That was followed by a sac fly and back-to-back, two-out RBI singles.
Drew Weeks went 3-for-4 in the ballgame with a RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Wes Rogers also delivered a pair of hits in a 2-for-4 performance.
Game two of the four-game set is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday night. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 6:55 p.m.
