Vancouver Canadians News Release

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - A three-run surge in the top of the 6th inning propelled the Boise Hawks to a third straight victory over Vancouver out at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Wednesday night.

Trailing 2-0, the Canadians managed to draw even in the bottom of the 5th inning when Gunnar Heidt hit his 3rd home run of the season off of Boise starter David Hill who departed shortly after, giving way to reliever Chad Zurat who tidied up the inning.

Vancouver starter Josh DeGraaf took his start into the 6th inning but couldn't get out of the frame as he walked the first two batters that he faced which brought Canadians manager John Schneider out of the dugout. The call to the bullpen was for LHP Turner Lee would allow both of DeGraaf's runs to come in as well as one of his own on a sac fly, base hit and error off the glove of Gunnar Heidt. The Canadians shortstop, Heidt, had a pair of errors leading the Hawks to three runs over the course of the game.

The Canadians couldn't score off the Hawks bullpen as Chad Zurat (0.1IP), Drasen Johnson (3.0IP) and Dylan Thompson (1.0IP) locked down Boise's third straight victory in Vancouver.

With the loss, Vancouver falls back below .500 at 13-14 (.482) on the second half, and remain 2 1/2 games off the pace in the North Division after the Aquasox fell to Salem-Keizer out at Everett Memorial Stadium in 10 innings.

Notes: Canadians second baseman Ryan Metzler saw his 16-game hitting streak come to an end after a 0-for-4 night with five runners left on-base... Vancouver was 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
