June 8, 2021 - Eastern League (EL)
Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Reading Fightin Phils had full control of game one as they topped the Hartford Yard Goats, 5-2 on Tuesday night. Fans packed the ballpark to see Phillies #2 prospect Bryson Stott in his first appearance in Reading and he did not disappoint. In his first at-bat, Stott sent one deep to center field and followed it up with another out to left in his next plate appearance. Five pitchers took the mound, allowing just six hits and striking out nine Yard Goats.
Stott recorded 3 RBIs on the night and also recorded a double to right for a three hit contest. Arquimedes Gamboa notched a double of his own to add two runs on the board. Daniel Brito also had a single to continue his hit streak.
Mark Appel got the start going his longest outing of four innings letting up five hits and just two earned runs. Braden Zarbnisky (W, 3-1) was first out of the bullpen throwing two strong innings allowing just one hit. Billy Sullivan and Austin Ross were next putting up completely clean appearances themselves. Brian Marconi (S, 2) finished the job in the top of the ninth striking out the side.
The Double-A affiliate of the Phillies will play next at FirstEnergy Stadium from June 9th-13th. The team will take on the Hartford Yard Goats (Rockies) at America's Classic Ballpark. Come celebrate the end of the school year, fireworks, giveaways, and BeerFest with us at the ballpark!
