
Storm Win Series in 5-2 Defeat of Force

Fargo, ND. - The Tri-City Storm won this week's three-game road series against the Fargo Force with a 5-2 win over Fargo on Thursday night and another 5-2 victory over Fargo on Saturday night. The Storm got goals from Carter Mazur (2), Gavin Brindley, Adam Klapka, and Mark Estapa in Saturday's win. Todd Scott made 26 saves on 28 shots to record the win in goal for Tri-City. Following this week's three-game road series, Tri-City returns home to the Viaero Center on Friday for its annual "Pack It In Purple" game sponsored by the United Way of the Kearney Area. Carter Mazur scored the only goal of the 1st period to give Tri-City a 1-0 lead. Mazur's goal was scored at 4:22 of the 1st period and was assisted by Mark Estapa and Hunter Strand. The assist by Estapa was his fourth of the season and Strand's assist was his 10th. Tri-City was outshot 8-5 in the 1st period but led 1-0 following Mazur's team-leading eighth goal of the season.
Gavin Brindley scored his fourth goal of the year at 9:05 of the 2nd period to give Tri-City a 2-0 lead. Brindley's goal was assisted by Matthew Knies and Nick Portz. Knies' assist was his sixth of the season, and the assist for Nick Portz was his fifth of the year. Adam Klapka scored an unassisted goal at 15:30 of the 2nd period to increase the Storm's lead to three goals. The goal was Klapka's fourth of the season. Mark Estapa scored a power-play goal minutes later to give Tri-City a 4-0 lead. Estapa's goal was scored at 16:43 of the 2nd period and was his fifth of the season. Cole McWard recorded his eighth assist of the year on the goal and Vinny Borgesi also notched his fifth assist of the year on the play. The Storm outshot the Force 12-5 in the 2nd period and carried a 4-0 lead into the 3rd period.
Trevor Griebel scored Fargo's first goal of the game at 7:35 of the 3rd period to cut Tri-City's lead back to three goals. At 10:02 of the 3rd period, Carter Mazur scored his second goal of the night and ninth goal of the season to secure the victory for Tri-City. Austin Wong scored an additional goal for Fargo at 16:13 of the 3rd period. Tri-City won the game by a final score of 5-2 and improved to 10-7-0-1 this season.
