RALSTON, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm used a late second period goal from Tim Bonner to get ahead of the Omaha Lancers and held on, winning 2-1 at a sold out Ralston Arena on Saturday night.

Brian Ward also scored his team-leading nineteenth goal in the second period and Justin Quale stopped 28 shots to pick up the win.

After a scoreless first period, the Lancers took the lead with a goal by forward Gage Hough at 9:59 of the second frame.

But Tri-City responded quickly with a goal of their own from Ward. Trevor Mingoia started the play by taking a shot on net. Jared Linnell picked up the rebound behind the Omaha goal and fed Ward in front, who didn't waste the opportunity.

Late in the period the Storm grabbed the lead on a perfectly executed rush which ended in Bonner's eighteenth goal of the season. Vecchione started the rush and led Bonner into the offensive zone with a pass over the blue line. Bonner found the third member of the line Trevor Moore to his left and Moore gave it back to the Osseo, Minn. native right at the goalmouth.

Bonner made a quick move to get Lancers goaltender Cole Bruns out of position and finished to play, giving Tri-City a 2-1 advantage.

Omaha had their chances in the final frame, but couldn't get one past Quale and the Storm hung on for the victory.

Tri-City has a full week off before returning to the Viaero Event Center on Saturday night to play the Green Bay Gamblers. The action gets underway at 7:05 p.m.
