Omaha Lancers News Release

Ralston, Neb. - Justin Quale registered 28 saves and the Tri-City Storm scored a pair of goals in the final six minutes of the second period en route to a 2-1 victory over the Omaha Lancers Saturday evening in front of 4,030 fans at Ralston Arena. Following the setback, Omaha moved to 28-19 on the year and remained tied for third place in the Western Conference standings with the Waterloo Black Hawks following Waterloo's 6-1 defeat at the Fargo Force. The loss was just the second for the Lancers over the last eight games and just the team's third setback in the last 14 games.

Neither side was able to find the back of the net in the opening period despite a combined 22 shots on goal. Lancers netminder Cole Bruns recorded 11 saves on the 11 Tri-City shots that came his way while Quale answered the 11 Omaha shots he faced in the first period.

Omaha broke the scoreless deadlock just prior to the midway point of the second period when, while on the power play, Tyler Moy sent a pass from the left goal line to the top of the crease for Gage Hough who made no mistake in sending in his eighth goal of the season. Matias Cleland grabbed the secondary assist on the man-advantage marker notched 9:59 into the middle frame. The goal marked the 26th time in 47 games this season that the Lancers have scored first as Omaha moved to 20-6 this year when grabbing the game's first goal. Tri-City evened the contest a little better than four minutes later when Brian Ward converted his 19th goal of the season 14:07 into the second period. Jared Linnell and Trevor Mingoia garnered assists on the even strength strike. The Storm then grabbed the lead for good in the final minute of the period when Tim Bonner slipped his 18th goal of the season inside the left post. Trevor Moore and Michael Vecchione assisted on the five-on-five tally netted 19:32 into the second stanza.

The one-goal lead held up through the final period despite 12 Omaha shots as Quale was able to keep the Lancers off the score sheet securing the Storm's fifth straight victory head-to-head against Omaha. Quale earned the win with 28 saves on 29 shots in moving to 5-3-1 on the year and 2-0 against the Lancers. Meanwhile, Bruns suffered the setback despite 24 saves on 26 Storm shots.

The Lancers are back in action this coming Friday evening when the team continues its five-game home stand at Ralston Arena with a 7:05 PM showdown with the Sioux City Musketeers.
