Seattle Storm News Release
This Week's Opponents
Chicago: The Sky and the Storm will meet in the regular season for the first time this week. The teams met this preseason, with Chicago grabbing a 68-67 win as a pair of Elaine Powell free throws with 1.7 seconds remaining pushed the Sky in front. Wendy Palmer paced the Storm with 10 points and 10 rebounds as Lauren Jackson did not suit up for Seattle.
Connecticut: Seattle and Connecticut split a pair of games last summer, with each team winning at home. The first meeting, an 81-69 Storm loss on June 7, 2005, resulted in the loss of Sue Bird as well, as the All-Star suffered fractured nasal and orbital bones in a collision during the game. In the June 22 rematch, Betty Lennox poured in 29 of the Storm's then-franchise-record 95 points as Seattle rolled to a 95-86 win. The Storm hold a 6-3 advantage against the Sun all-time.
Indiana: The Storm and Fever split the two-game series last summer. In the first meeting, an 83-77 Storm win at KeyArena on June 4, 2005, the Storm made a franchise-record 31 free throws and Lauren Jackson led the way with 24 points and 15 boards. In the rematch, the Indiana halted Seattle's franchise-best six-game winning streak with a 78-68 win on Aug. 4, 2005. Seattle leads 7-3 in the all-time series.
