Monarchs vs. Phoenix Mercury
- The Monarchs face the Phoenix Mercury for the 34th occasion during the WNBA regular season. The Monarchs currently lead the all-time series 19-14 (11-5 at home and 8-9 on the road)
- This is the second time the Monarchs and the Mercury have met up this regular season. The two teams played each other on May 20, 2006 at ARCO Arena with the Monarchs pulling out the 105-79 win.
- The 105-79 victory was the largest win for the Monarchs in the all-time series versus the Phoenix Mercury.

Monarchs/Mercury Connections
Monarchs assistant coach Monique Ambers was drafted by Phoenix Mercury in the fourth round of the 1997 WNBA Draft. In 1997, Ambers averaged .444 field goal percentage, .400 free throw percentage and 1.2 rebounds per game in 19 games played.
Monarchs guard Kara Lawson (Tennessee '03) and Phoenix guard Diana Taurasi (UConn '04) faced off two years in a row at the NCAA Tournament. In 2002 during the National Semifinal UConn defeated Tennessee, 79-56 and in 2003 in the National Championship UConn won, 73-68.
Monarchs Have Tied Franchise Record for Consecutive Home Wins
After the win over Phoenix on Saturday, May 20, the Monarchs tied a franchise record of nine consecutive home wins (July 2, 2005-present). The previous record was seven consecutive wins set back during the 2000 season from May 1- July 1, 2000. The Monarchs fell short of beating their record on May 25, as the Houston Comets defeated the Monarchs on their homecourt. Currently the Monarchs have won 96 total games at ARCO Arena.
Sacramento's Youth Movement - Part 2
With the Sacramento roster more than half full of new, young faces, for the second consecutive season, the Monarchs now have an average age of 25.5 years-old compared to their 25.7 years-old in 2005 and 28 years-old average from the 2004 roster.
Stork Visits Monarchs
Congratulations to Monarchs forward DeMya Walker on the birth of her first child, a beautiful baby girl. Zachara Catherine came into the world on April 11, 2006 at 8:34 p.m., weighing 7 pounds, 5 ounces and measuring 19 inches long. Mother and child are doing well. Walker is currently living in Houston where she will spend the rest of her maternity leave. She is expected to rejoin the Monarchs in June.
