Seattle Storm News Release

SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm will celebrate women's achievement in sport and Title IX at Girl Power Day, this Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Storm take on the Detroit Shock at KeyArena. The event is part of Girl Power Week, presented by D.A. Davidson, which will culminate in a Girls' Night Out celebration at the July 29 game vs. Charlotte.

Saturday's festivities will tip off with a pregame networking event hosted by Business and Professional Women (BPW) in KeyArena's Courtside Club from 10-11 a.m. A BPW Girl Power Rally on the main floor of the arena will follow. The rally will feature speaker Roslyn Ridgeway, BPW/USA President and CEO of De Roz Productions, Inc.- an entertainment production company. In addition, former Storm star and University of Washington alum Jamie Redd will make an appearance at the rally. The Storm will also honor outstanding female athletes from around the state in a special halftime presentation coordinated by BPW.

D.A. Davidson and the King County Sexual Assault Resource Center (KCSARC) have also partnered to host a stress-ball drive at Saturday's game. KCSARC uses stress balls to help its clients relax and feel comfortable, especially children who are not allowed to bring a teddy bear or other such comforting object into a court room. KCSARC will collect stress balls in KeyArena's southwest corner.

All fans are invited to attend any of the day's events, with only a ticket to the Storm game required for admission. Pregame Girl Power event attendees will need to enter through KeyArena's East entrance to obtain a pregame event pass.

Tickets for Saturday's game are still available and can be purchased through TicketMaster, by logging on to storm.wnba.com, or by calling 1-877-WNBA-TIX. Storm tickets are also available at the Sonics & Storm Team Shop, located at 312 First Ave. N., on KeyArena's West Plaza.

The Seattle Sonics & Storm manages the Puget Sound region's professional basketball franchises - the NBA's Seattle SuperSonics and the WNBA's Seattle Storm. The organization oversees all sales, marketing, finance, public relations and basketball operations for the teams. The Basketball Club of Seattle LLC owns both teams.
