Tri-City Storm celebrate their 16-round shootout victory over the Sioux City Musketeers

The Tri-City Storm currently holds a three point lead in the USHL league standings following a perfect three game weekend sweep of Youngstown, Des Moines, and Sioux City. The weekend sweep was punctuated with a thrilling come from behind victory on Sunday afternoon against Sioux City that included a team record 16 Round shootout. In Sunday's game, Tri-City was down 2-0 to Sioux City with under seven minutes to play. The Storm scored two goals in the game's final 6:48, including an extra attacker game tying goal with 1:27 left to play. Following a scoreless three on three overtime period, Tri-City and Sioux City battled through a Tri-City Storm team record 16 Round shootout. Connor McMenamin and Asa Kinnear scored Tri-City's goals in the shootout, and Jake Barczewski stopped 15 of 16 Sioux City shooters, including all 13 shooters in the sudden death rounds of the shootout.
*The USHL is working to verify that this is the longest shootout in the history of the league*
Tri-City enters this weekend on a four game winning streak. The Storm have an eight point lead in the Western Conference standings (largest of the season), and currently lead Muskegon for 1st place in the USHL league standings (largest of the season). The Storm travel to Urbandale, Iowa for their lone game of the weekend on Saturday night before retuning home to the Viaero Center in Kearney for back to back matchups against the Green Bay Gamblers of the Eastern Conference on Friday, February 8th, and Saturday, February 9th.

Sunday's 16 Round Shootout was the longest in team history, surpassing the organization's previous record of 12 rounds set on February 6, 2006 in a 6-5 win over Des Moines
Friday's 4 goals scored in the 1st period against Youngstown set a new season high for most goals scored in the 1st period by the Storm
Saturday's 4 goals scored in the 2nd period against Des Moines set a new season high for most goals scored in the 2nd period by the Storm
At 87.3%, the Storm penalty kill is currently ranked 1st in the USHL
Tri-City has won 29 of its first 39 games played.
Player Notes
Jake Barczewski picked up three consecutive wins in net this weekend and improved his personal record to 13-5 on the season
Barczewski set a team record in Sunday's win for most saves made in a shootout in a single game (15)
Barczewski's Goals Against Average of 2.79 is tied for 6th best in the USHL. His save percentage of .904 is 6th best among qualified goalies in the USHL this season.
In the 2nd period of Saturday night's win over Des Moines, Ronnie Attard set a new team record for most goals scored by a defenseman in a single season (12).* Now has 13 after Sunday's game.
