Tri-City Storm News Release
NCAA Frozen Four Notes
- Tri-City will have 5 former players and 2 former coaching staff members representing the Storm in the 2018 Frozen Four beginning Thursday in St. Paul Minnesota.
- The Storm initially had 19 former players and 2 former coaching staff members in this year's NCAA Tournament, and with Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Minnesota Duluth all advancing to the Frozen Four, Tri-City now has an alumni on 3 of the 4 teams remaining in the 2018 NCAA Hockey Tournament.

- Ohio State has former Storm player Gordi Myer and former Storm Assistant Coach J.B. Bittner on the roster, the Buckeyes will faceoff against the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs on Thursday at 4pm on ESPN2 in the first National Semifinal. Tri-City has no alumni on the Minnesota Duluth roster.
- Michigan will battle Notre Dame in the second National Semifinal on Thursday at 7:30pm on ESPN2. The Michigan Wolverines have former Storm players Hayden Lavigne, and Cutler Martin on the roster. Lavigne is Michigan's starting goaltender and is expected to get the start in next on Thursday night. In addition to these two players, former Storm Head Coach Bill Muckult is the Associate Head Coach for Michigan and will be behind the bench for the Wolverines.
- Notre Dame has two former Tri-City players on the roster, Tory Dello and Bobby Nardella.
- Because of the Michigan/Notre Dame matchup, the Tri-City Storm are guaranteed to have at least two former players in the National Championship Game on Saturday night at 6:30PM on ESPN.
Injury Notes
- #10 Jace Foskey, #13 Charlie Dovorany, #15 Sam Hentges are all out for the year with season ending injuries.
- #22 Jacob Ringsby, #30 Filip Larsson have recently missed significant time due to injury but have not been ruled out for the season.
Team Notes
- Saturday's attendance at the Viaero Center of 3,467 was the highest attended Storm game of the season. Saturday night's attendance was also the largest for a Storm home game since Tri-City defeated Dubuque to win the Clark Cup Championship on May 20th, 2016.
- Tri-City had scored a power play goal in 5 straight games prior to yesterday's loss to Omaha. The Storm power play is now 9th in the USHL, and 5th in the Western Conference at 17.8% on the season.
- The Storm have 7 games left in the regular season, 4 at home, 3 away.
Individual Notes
- Defenseman Bryan Yoon picked up his 30th assist on the year this weekend and leads all Storm players this season in assists. Yoon his in a tie for 5th place in the USHL for points by a defenseman this year. Yoon is 4 assists away from tying the single season team record for assists by a defenseman at 34. St. Louis Blues forward Jaden Schwartz holds the all time team record with 50 assists during the 2009-2010 season .
- Forward Filip Forsmark notched two goals in Tri-City's 4-3 loss to Sioux Falls on Saturday night and recorded an assist in Friday's 2-1 win.
- Forward Tyler Madden continues to lead the team in Goals and Points with 15 Goals and 34 Points on the season. He also leads Tri-City with 5 Game Winning Goals this season.
- Forward Johnny McDermott is the teams +/- leader at a +8 through 53 games played.
- Storm players Bryan Yoon, Tyler Ward, Johnny McDermott, and Joey Cipollone have skated in every Storm game this season. Tri-City had two players play all 60 games last season, Bryan Yoon and Monte Graham.
- Defenseman Ronnie Attard and Hugo Blixt each have 8 goals this season and are tied for 3rd in the USHL for most goals scored by a defenseman this season. Blixt has 5 power play goals and his 2nd among all USHL defenseman in power play goals scored this season.
Miscellaneous Notes
- Tri-City is 18-3-1-1 when scoring 1st this season
- Tri-City is 9-1-0-0 when leading after the 1st period
- Tri-City is 20-2-1-0 when leading after the 2nd period
- The Storm have no games remaining against Eastern Conference teams and finished the season 10-7-0-1 against teams from the East this season.
- The Storm are currently 19-13-2-1 against Western Conference teams with 7 games remaining against Western Conference competition this season.
2018 Clark Cup Playoffs Notes
- Prior to the season, the USHL Board of Governors agreed to expand the number of qualifying playoff teams from 8 to 12 with the top two seeds in each Conference receiving a first-round bye. The First Round will be a best of three series hosted by the #3 and #4 seeds in each conference versus the #5 and #6 seeds, respectively. The remaining rounds of the playoffs with be determined by best of five series and home ice advantage going to the higher seed.
- The Top 2 Seeds will not participate in the opening round, the #5 and #6 seeds will not play a home playoff game in the opening round.
