Guelph Storm News Release

The Guelph Storm Hockey Club announced today that Garret McFadden, the team's 1st round pick in 2013, has signed an Ontario Hockey League contract with the team.

The Kincardine native had 14 goals and 16 assists in 37 games playing Minor Midget AAA with the Grey-Bruce Highlanders last season. At 5'10 and 185 pounds, McFadden is an offensive minded defenceman with a stockier build.

The 16 year old most recently finished tied for third in overall scoring and first in defensive scoring on Team OMHA Black with four points (two goals and two assists) in five games at the first ever U16 OHL Gold Cup in Kitchener. He scored the game winning goal in Team OMHA Black's victory over Team NOHA.

"Obviously selecting Garrett in the first round of this year's priority selection was a strong indicator of what we thought of him", Storm Vice President and GM Mike Kelly said. "An elite puck moving defenceman, he is the foundation of our future success and we are thrilled to have him here in Guelph."

McFadden met with Storm management and staff at the annual rookie day in April and will join the rest of the Storm when training camp opens at the Sleeman Centre in August.
