Guelph Storm News Release
The Guelph Storm Hockey Club announced today that Matt Finn, the team's first round draft pick in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection, has signed an Ontario Hockey League contract with the team.
Finn, a 6.00, 185 lbs defenseman was chosen with the 12th overall selection. Last season the Toronto Marlboros grad racked up 57 points on the blueline, including 22 goals and 35 assists.
Finn, along with fellow Storm picks Justin Auger, Scott Kosmachuk, Zack Leslie and Mason Prout, were among the 80 1994 born players to skate at the Provincial Under 17 Camp in early July.
The Etobicoke native has been described as a "very effective, calm and poised defender who is effective in all three zones. He plays a very steady, efficient and almost quiet game, looking after his responsibilities in a very workmanlike fashion. Finn has all the physical tools to play and thrive at the next level. He has good size, he skates well while displaying good mobility and he also has above average puck skills."
Finn was on hand in early May for the Storm's annual Year End Banquet to receive the Lou Embro award for the Storm's 1st Round Draft Pick. The 16 year old was also in attendance at the Storm's annual Prospect Day held the next weekend at the University of Guelph. Finn will attend the Storm training camp which begins Wednesday August 31st.
