
Storm Set to Host Military Appreciation Night

KEARNEY, NE. - The Tri-City Storm is set to host the organization's annual Military Appreciation Night game tonight at the Viaero Center against the Waterloo Black Hawks. Following weekend sweeps over the Omaha Lancers and Sioux City Musketeers, the Storm enters tonight's game on a four-game winning streak. Tri-City will wear specialty jerseys in tonight's game that will be raffled off during tomorrow night's game. Tickets are still available for tonight's game and can be purchased by calling the Viaero Center Box Office or by visiting www.StormHockey.com. Puck drop for tonight's Military Appreciation Night game between the Storm and Black Hawks is set for 7:05pm CT.
Tri-City (9-2-0-0) returns home to the Viaero Center tonight for the first game of a four-game homestand. Tri-City will host the Waterloo Black Hawks tonight and tomorrow night before playing host to the Des Moines Buccaneers next weekend in a two-game series. A win in tonight's game against Waterloo would tie Tri-City's season-high for most consecutive wins. The Storm enters tonight's battle against the Black Hawks in sole possession of first place in the USHL's Western Conference standings. Tri-City's four-game winning streak is the longest active winning streak in the league entering tonight's schedule of games. The Storm holds a 10-7-3-0 record over the Black Hawks in head-to-head matchups over the past five seasons. Tri-City is 6-2-2-0 in games played against Waterloo at the Viaero Center during that same time span. In this season's Home Opener at the Viaero Center, Tri-City defeated Waterloo by a final score of 6-2. Tonight's game is the second matchup between the Storm and the Black Hawks in this year's six-game season series. Tomorrow night's game will be the final regular season game between Tri-City and Waterloo at the Viaero Center this season. The final three games of the six-game season series will be played at Young Arena in Waterloo, IA on January 8th, March 18th, and March 19th.
Waterloo (7-5-0-1) enters tonight's road series against Tri-City as the fourth-place team in the USHL's Western Conference standings. Goaltender Jack Williams posted a 25 save shut out in a 3-0 victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede in Waterloo's most recent game last Saturday night. Owen Baker (2) and Gavin O'Connell scored the Black Hawks' goals in the win. Scoring leaders for Waterloo entering tonight's road game at the Viaero Center include Tyler Kostelecky (7), Michael LaStarza (4), Garret Schifsky (4), Mason Reiners (3), and Cater Batchelder (3). Jack Williams has appeared in 11 of Waterloo's 13 games played to this point in the 2021-2022 season. Williams has recorded three shutouts this season, more than any goaltender in the USHL this season. Williams has also played more minutes in net (641) than any goaltender in the league this year. He is among the league's leaders in Goals Against Average (GAA) (1.97) and Save Percentage (SV%) (.924). Following this weekend's road series against the Storm, the Black Hawks will return home next weekend for back-to-back home games against Omaha and Sioux City.
