
Storm Set For Road Series Against Steel

GENEVA, IL. - The Tri-City Storm is set for this weekend's road series against the Eastern Conference's Chicago Steel at the Fox Valley Ice Arena. Tri-City carries a four-game point streak into tonight's game following three consecutive victories over the Omaha Lancers. Puck drop for tonight's battle between the Storm and the Steel is set for 7:05pm CT.
Tri-City (20-13-4-4) reached the twenty-win plateau for the thirteenth consecutive season in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Omaha Lancers at the Viaero Center. Vladislav Lukashevich (8, 9), Jake Rozzi (10, 11), A.J. Lacroix (9), and Artemi Nizameyev (9) scored goals for the Storm in the three-goal victory. Cameron Korpi backstopped Tri-City to victory for the 19th time this season by making 14 saves on 17 shots during the rivalry matchup. The Storm improved to 15-3-0-2 when leading after the 1st period, and 16-0-2-0 when leading after the 2nd period in the win. Tri-City is 13-7-1-2 when outshooting its opponents this season after outshooting Omaha by a final margin of 46-17 in Saturday's game. The Storm improved to 7-5-0-0 in three-goal games this season. Tri-City enters tonight's road game with a 4-2-3-1 record in the past ten games. The Storm has posted a 1-1-1-1 record in head-to-head battles against the Steel over the past five seasons. Tri-City's most recent matchup against Chicago was a 4-3 overtime loss for the Storm on Saturday, February 22nd, during Tri-City's 2021-2022 Anderson Cup Championship season. This weekend's games will mark six consecutive games played in the series at the Fox Valley Ice Arena. Chicago has not made a trip to the Viaero Center since splitting matchups with Tri-City on February 22nd, and February 23rd, 2019.
Chicago (17-19-3-2) enters this weekend's home series against Tri-City in 6th place in the USHL's Eastern Conference standings. The Steel has produced a 7-2-1-0 record over the past ten games, but dropped its most recent battle last Saturday night on the road to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders by a final score of 5-2. Charlie Major (18, 19) netted each of Chicago's goals in the defeat. The Steel's 57 penalty minutes during the matchup set a new season high recorded for Chicago for penalty minutes in a single game. The Steel's penalty kill surrendered three goals, and finished the game 5/8. Scoring leaders for Chicago entering this weekend's home series against Tri-City include Michael Hage (21), Charlie Major (19), Mick Thompson (16), Joey DelGreco (16), Jordan Brisson (8), and Kolin Sisson (7). Chicago is 4-6-1-1 in 12 previous battles against Western Conference competition this season. This weekend's series between the Storm and the Steel features the USHL's two winningest organizations of the past five seasons.
