Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Lake Elsinore, CA - A five-run eighth upended Rancho's bid for a split in Lake Elsinore, as the Storm came from behind to win Sunday's game at The Diamond, 9-8 over the Quakes.
A two-out ground ball resulted in a pair of errors, allowing the tying and winning runs to score to cap the five-run eighth, as the Storm won their first series over the Quakes, four to two.
Rancho missed out on countless opportunities to blow the Storm out, leaving 13 on base and making several outs on the bases.
Despite all that, they built a four-run advantage, thanks in part to a four-hit day from Thayron Liranzo and a four-RBI day from Simon Reid.
Trailing 9-8 in the ninth, Rancho went in order against Storm closer Cole Paplham, who earned his sixth save of the year.
Kelvin Bautista (2-1) was charged with the loss, while Storm reliever David Morgan (4-2) was credited with the win.
The Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, July 25, hosting San Jose for six straight. Jared Karros (2-2) will take on Manuel Mercedes in Tuesday's opener at 6:30pm.
Tuesday will be a Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as fans can visit the website to score a FREE Club Seat Ticket. Tickets are currently available at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
