Cedar Rapids, Ia. - The Tri-City Storm power play stayed red hot, scoring two man-up goals to spill the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, 4-1, Saturday from The Stable.

Carson Meyer led the way with two third-period tallies and three points, including one power-play goal with 11 minutes left to give the Storm a 3-1 edge. Jake Wahlin had a goals and two assists for a season-best three points.

Mattias Goransson had two assists to give him 13 points, best for a USHL defenseman.

Jake Kielly made 33 saves to earn the win, the most in a game by a Storm goalie this season.

The special teams revved early for both teams; Cedar Rapids' Jack Ahcan scored on the man advantage 3:07 into the first to give the RoughRiders a 1-0 lead.

The Storm scored the next four goals, holding the RoughRiders top-scoring offense to a single tally.

Goransson set up the first goal, a power-play marker, wristing a shot from the right point that Nico Sturm deflected in from between the rings at 8:02 of the first. Wahlin took the secondary assist by passing the puck to Goransson.

Sturm is on a six-game point streak (2g, 5a), the longest for a Tri-City player this season. Sturm has four goals and nine points this season.

Cedar Rapids goalie Ben Blacker made 32 saves and took the loss.

The goal gave the Storm goals on five consecutive power plays. The unit finished 2-for-7, giving Tri-City six power-play goals in the last two games.

With 57 seconds remaining in the first, Wahlin scored his third of the season, sniping a shot on the rush from the right circle short post past Blacker. Collin Rutherford, playing against his former team after he was acquired Oct. 28 from Cedar Rapids, earned the primary assist. Meyer garnered the secondary helper.

The assist set off Meyer, who finished with a trio of points for the first time this season. First, the Storm's leading scorer (9g, 6a) gave the Storm a key power-play insurance goal, swinging his stick like a baseball bat to flick the puck from the left post into the net at the 9:08 mark of the third. Mattias Goransson attempted the one timer, stopped by Blacker that went right to Meyer. John Marino earned the secondary assist.

Next, as the Storm dribbled out the clock, Meyer took a pass from Jake Wahlin and delivered it into the empty net with five seconds left to seal a 4-1 win.

Meyer has three goals and five points in the last two games.

Tri-City's next two games are on the road, at 7:05 p.m. against the Lincoln Stars on Friday, Nov. 13 and 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, against Sioux Falls.
