Des Moines Buccaneers News Release
The Des Moines Buccaneers were able to come back after a rough outing last night against the Fargo Force and played a better game, pulling their goalie and having a chance to tie it late, but an empty-netter sealed the deal in a 3-1 Fargo win.
Griffin Foulk scored a goal for Fargo just seconds after their power play had expired and at 7:49 of the first period they got on the scoreboard to take the lead. The lead didn't last long as the Bucs scored on the MidAmerican Energy Power Play when Justin Howell fed Patrick Grasso at the point and Grasso's shot hit the post but forced Fargo goaltender Ryan Wischow to sprawl and with him down and out Zach Jordan pounded the loose puck home to get the Bucs on the scoreboard at 8:40 of the first. Zach Yon broke the tie at the 11:09 mark of the period to take a 2-1 lead into the locker room.
Neither team could get on the scoreboard in the 2nd as Nick MacNab and Wischow combined to make 17 saves in the second and keep it a one goal game. The Buccaneers struggled to get shots to the net in the third period but after killing off a late penalty had an opportunity with a pulled goalie but Blake Lizotte scored an empty netter for the Force at 19:31 of the third and put a finish to the game.
Nick MacNab finished the game with 30 saves for Des Moines who fell to 5-8-1 overall. The Buccaneers next home game is Saturday, November 21st vs. the USA U18 game. For tickets call 278-2827 or online at www.bucshockey.com.
